Summer HEAT 2026

We are needing you to sign up for HEAT Trek 2026 by October 27th.  This trip will be August 1-8, 2026, and we will be spending multiple days riding horses, and also swimming, doing ropes courses, blacksmithing, and shooting sports, etc. at Beaumont Scout Reservation,  just outside of St. Louis, Missouri (6480 Beaumont Reservation Dr, High Ridge, MO 63049).  We are limited to 20 scout participants. To ride the horses, riders have to be 11 years old and up and everyone must be 230 lbs or below. We need to provide a minimum of 6 leaders. We need to provide 3 leaders for each horse ride; however, some leaders can choose not to ride horses. We have the option of both adirondacks and tents. Due to the distance and length of stay, if your scout is under the age of 12 we may require a parent to attend; we will assess this on a case by case basis. We are planning for our troop fundraising money to be able cover about half the cost for participants. 

Our scout families will be responsible for the following costs:

Cost per scout or leader participating (riding horses): $250

October 27th-- deposit of $50

May 1st -- deposit of $100

June 1st-- deposit of $100

Cost per leader not participating in riding horses: $90

October 27th-- deposit of $10

June 1st --deposit of $80

*We will ask you to bring money ($30) for food on the two travel days.

August 1st, Saturday 

Leave for St. Louis 

(St. Louis Arch tour --Either here or at the end of the week--TBD)

4 pm Arrive and Setup camp

6 pm dinner (on our own)

August 2nd, Sunday 

7 am Breakfast (on our own)

Hike or Trail Service

Noon lunch

1pm teaching how to tie, groom, tack horses

3pm work on mounting, getting comfortable on the horse

5pm dinner

6pm swimming

7pm showers 

8:30pm back to campsite

(split youth up into two groups)

August 3rd, Monday 

Group 1 would ride for 3 hours while group 2 does our low ropes course 

Noon - everyone eats lunch together at the ropes course

Group 2 rides back to barn while group 1 does low ropes

5pm dinner

6pm swimming

7pm showers

8pm back to campsite

August, 4th, Tuesday 

Same schedule but groups will be doing the high ropes course and group 2 will ride in the morning

August 5th, Wednesday 

Group 1 ride for 3 hours

Group 2 blacksmithing, branding, field day

Noon everyone eats lunch together in rec hall

Groups switch 

5pm dinner 

6pm swimming

7pm showers

8pm back to campsite 

August 6th, Thursday 

Group 2 rides while group 1 does climbing tower and shooting sports 

Noon groups eat lunch together 

Groups switch 

5pm dinner 

6pm swimming

7pm showers 

8pm back to campsite 

August 7th, Friday 

Riding practice for the show on Saturday

Hike and/or Trail service 

August, 8th Saturday 

Horse show games in the riding ring 

Finish around 2pm. 

Depart for home 

(could tour St. Louis Arch on our way back home)
